Definition of shareware and other types of software licensing.

Shareware is a type of proprietary software that is initially shared by the owner for trial use at little or no cost. Often the software has limited functionality or incomplete documentation until the user sends payment to the software developer. Shareware is often offered as a download from a website or on a compact disc included with a magazine.

Freeware is fully-featured software distributed at no cost to the user but without source code being made available

Free and open-source software (FOSS) is software where the source code is freely available for anyone to inspect. Alternation and redistribution of altered FOSS usually has some restrictions which are done via copyrights.

Proprietary opensource : is software where the source code is made available to some or all to inspect. Disclosure to other parties, alteration and redistribution of proprietary opensource is not allowed in any way.

Commercial software : is software where only the executable is provided to paying customers. Disassembly and reverse engineering is disallowed via copyrights and licensing agreements. Even use can be restricted via licensing.

Trial commercial software : is commercial provided only as a demo. Some features might be missing or limited also in the demo.

Muftasoft and ATRC are providing the following products as shareware under a licensing agreement.

ATRC IO Load Stablizer : This program manages the IO load of the running programs so no program can slow down the system. Also it makes sure data is more frequently synchronized than usually done in Linux systems.

forward_x_windows_from_su_user : This allows you to easily configure x windows forwarding from the ssh login user followed by a switch user.

By paying for the shareware registration and licensing, you shall get the following benefits for 1 year.

Technical support. Answers via email to queries about the software. If there are any technical issues, the software can be upgraded to cater to them. Priority support shall be provided to registered users.

Fees for registration is 1 Litecoin ( LTC ) per software.

SHAREWARE AGREEMENT

This Shareware Agreement (the “Agreement”) is entered into by and between:

Applied Technology Research Center, with its principal place of business at C-55 Block A KDA Officers, Karachi 75260, Pakistan (“Licensor”), and the individual or entity accessing or using the Shareware (defined below) (“Licensee”).

1. License Grant

Licensor hereby grants Licensee a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited right to use the software known as [Software Name] (the “Software”) for evaluation purposes under the terms and conditions specified in this Agreement.

2. Evaluation Period

Licensee may use the Software for evaluation purposes for a period of [Number] days from the date of installation (the “Evaluation Period”). After the Evaluation Period, the Licensee must either discontinue the use of the Software or purchase a licensed version.

3. Distribution

Licensee may freely distribute the shareware version of the Software to third parties, provided that:

The Software is distributed in its entirety, without modification.

No fee is charged for distribution, except for nominal fees to cover distribution costs (e.g., physical media costs, delivery of the media, server costs for downloading).

Licensee acknowledges that Licensor retains all ownership rights to the Software.

4. Usage Restrictions

During the Evaluation Period, Licensee agrees:

Not to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software.

Not to remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices in the Software.

Not to use the Software for any unlawful purpose.

5. Payment and Licensing

If Licensee wishes to continue using the Software beyond the Evaluation Period, Licensee must purchase a licensed version by paying a fee of 1 LTC (Litecoin) to Licensor. Upon payment, Licensee will be granted a full license for continued use.

6. Warranty Disclaimer

The Software is provided “as is” without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Licensor disclaims any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

7. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Licensor be liable for any damages, including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, or incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of or inability to use the Software, even if Licensor has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

8. Termination

This Agreement will terminate automatically upon the expiration of the Evaluation Period unless Licensee purchases a licensed version of the Software. Licensor may also terminate this Agreement immediately if Licensee violates any terms of this Agreement.

9. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [State/Country], without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

10. Entire Agreement

This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties regarding the subject matter hereof and supersedes all prior negotiations, discussions, and agreements between the parties.

By installing and using the Software, Licensee agrees to be bound by the terms of this Agreement.
