Online inverters, also known as Double Conversion or True Online UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies), are a type of UPS that provides continuous, clean, and reliable power to connected devices. Unlike Line Interactive inverters, online inverters always operate in the online mode, where the incoming AC power is continuously converted to DC and then back to AC, regardless of the quality of the utility grid power. Here's an overview of Online inverters:

1. Continuous Power Conversion:

  1. Online inverters convert the incoming AC power to DC power and then invert it back to AC power. This continuous power conversion ensures a stable and clean output voltage and frequency, irrespective of the quality or condition of the utility grid power.
  2. The input power passes through the rectifier, which converts AC to DC, and then the inverter converts DC back to AC to power the connected devices.

2. Isolation from Utility Grid:

  1. Online inverters provide complete isolation from the utility grid. The connected devices are always powered by the inverter's output, which is independent of the incoming AC power quality or stability.
  2. This isolation protects the connected devices from grid disturbances, such as voltage fluctuations, frequency variations, electrical noise, and transient voltage spikes.

3. Constant Voltage and Frequency:

  1. Online inverters maintain a constant output voltage and frequency, regardless of the variations in the input AC power. This ensures a stable and regulated power supply to the connected equipment, even during unstable or unreliable utility grid conditions.

4. Battery Backup:

  1. Online inverters include a battery backup system that provides uninterrupted power supply during power outages or failures. The batteries are continuously charged from the inverter's DC output, ensuring backup power availability whenever needed.
  2. In the event of a power outage, the inverter seamlessly switches from the AC input power to the battery power, ensuring uninterrupted operation of the connected devices.

5. Superior Surge and Noise Protection:

  1. Online inverters provide excellent surge protection, suppressing voltage spikes and protecting the connected equipment from electrical surges.
  2. They also offer advanced noise filtering and suppression capabilities, removing electrical noise and interference to provide clean and stable power to sensitive electronic devices.

6. Monitoring and Communication:

  1. Many Online inverters feature advanced monitoring and communication capabilities. They offer real-time monitoring of system status, battery condition, load status, and other parameters.
  2. Communication interfaces such as USB, RS-232, Ethernet, or SNMP enable remote monitoring, control, and integration with management software for enhanced system management and diagnostics.

Online inverters are commonly used in critical applications that require high-quality, reliable, and continuous power, such as data centers, medical equipment, telecommunications systems, and industrial processes. They provide the highest level of power protection, ensuring the connected devices are shielded from power disturbances and providing seamless battery backup during outages.

When selecting an Online inverter, it's important to consider factors such as capacity, battery runtime, surge protection capability, monitoring features, and compatibility with the electrical load requirements. Consulting with a reputable supplier or expert in power protection systems can help determine the appropriate Online inverter for specific application needs.
