INTERNET:- This course introduces students to the Internet and demonstrates how this resource may be used effectively in a modern office. Information currently needed by office professionals will be the main emphasis of the course.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:

1.Describe the Internet and the World Wide Web. 2.Compose, send and receive Internet E-Mail for business communication. 3.Use a search engine or direct URL access to locate job-related information. 4.Save and print existing Web pages. 5.Prepare travel arrangements electronically. 6.Access resources for personal and office management activities using the Internet. 7.Discuss ethical use of the Internet for an organization. 8.Explain the creation of a simple Web page.

The contents of the Course are as follows:-

1.Terminology

2.Starting to use a Browser: Running Netscape, Defining the menu bar, Defining tool bar(s), Maneuvering within a page, Exiting Netscape.

3.Maneuvering within the Web:Links, History, Back and Forward, Finding text, Bookmarks / Favorites,Entering an address, Frames.

4.Searching the Web: Search by subject, Search by site.

5.Web Mail: Subscribing, Do's and don'ts.

6.Downloading: Finding the proper site, Knowing what to download, Determine where to save file, Executing download.

7.User Groups What are they? Signing up / subscribing Mail mode vs digest mode Unsubscribing.

8.File Transfers Loading software Performing a file software transfer.

9.Telnet.
