Date of starting external projects for the Aug 2020 Semester is 17 August 2020. Start the projects and tasks before this date to make sure the external coordinators know you are participating in the grading. If you do not start by 17 Aug 2020 then you shall have to do an internal project within the University.
Industrial projects August 2020.
Since in the last semester there seemed to be some major confusion or communication gap as to what industrial projects are and how they are done.
Most important thing to realize is that the industrial project is a real world example of work.
So this means the real world is not going to inform, remind ask or else send messages as to if the participant wants to do something or not. If the participant does not do anything, then no one shall come after them to ask if they are interested or not.
From last semester's experience, there were multiple messages explaining that nothing is being done and all participants concluded that the best way to respond is to not respond at all.
An I grade was assigned so that the projects can be done in the next semester.
There are 4 layers in which projects can be done.
They are as follows :
1. Inside the University.
2. Between the collaborating company and the University. These are called internal projects.
3. Between the collaborating company and another customer of the collaborating company. the University. These are called external projects.
4. Independent. Where there is no coordinating company and the students propose the project directly to a customer and is more like an internship.
It was informed that external projects can go into a wait state because of limitations of customer companies. Also lack of control over customer companies. Due to the major confusion which existed in the previous semester, we do not plan to start with external projects.
Some of the projects listed have customers, but they shall be included for interactions only for projects where the coordinating company feel this can be a part of the project which is active based on the performance of the student(s).
If any student is wants to do a layer 2 project in collaboration with the coordinating company, then they need to communicate and start before the first day of the semester which starts in Aug 2020.
If you do not communicate and get your project(s) started before day 1 of the semester, then you shall have to do a layer 1 project inside the University. Examples are research papers or similar projects which are assigned by teachers inside the University.
The grading of projects shall be done only in the first 10 weeks of the semester.
Each week of the semester shall represent 10% of the marks.
Each week has 10 minimum hours of serious work to be graded in it.
Based on 5 days per week, it comes to about 2 hours minimum of serious work on the project(s).
This system is designed to simplify the grading system and make it clear as to how the project shall be graded.
Each day, the work needs to be done and posted to the group and emailed to the evaluators and coordinators.
Each day of the week represents about 1.42% of the grade.
Grading for each week shall be based only on the work done in the week.
Format for google group conversations or topic line format.
Use this format for the subject so your submissions can be found easily.
Full Name / Project topic / Date / Comment (optional)
Full Name should not change.
Project Topic. keep one name for specific projects. Do not change the name during the work on any project topic.
Date : 3 August 2020 Not things like 8-3-20 or 3/8/20
Comment optional (if you want to add something about the submission )
Here are some examples
Khawar Nehal / Indus Projects / 6 August 2020 / Explaining format
Tashmim Ahmed / Paper Publication / 6 August 2020 / Submission 1
Muneeba Rashid / Solar Packages / 3 August 2020
This shall keep from shifting or procrastination of tasks and work from one week to another.
If the passing marks are minimum 50 and if someone does not do anything in the first 5 weeks, then the participants evaluation shall be complete and submitted to the university.
The objective is to keep the project work in the first 10 weeks and not let it be delayed into the end of the semester which has other items like exams for other courses. This shall be followed for all participants. Whether they have other courses or not. To keep the grading and timings for the semester in one formula.
Coordinators and evaluators of the projects shall be expected to grade the participants on a weekly basis based on the daily tracking. This shall keep the participants and university management informed of the progress.
In case of a participant not having enough marks to pass in the evaluation of the first 10 weeks of the external projects, there might be enough time for the university to assign them a layer 1 research project inside the University so they can be provided some marks to pass. Depending on combined performance of the participant in the external and internal project.
If you do not understand anything or are not sure, then it is the responsibility of the student to ask. Now to make it less confusing as to who to ask. It is better to ask everyone involved instead of less so you show initiative instead of carelessness.
For all projects, I am available and my whatsapp is 92 343 270 2932. Email is khawar@atrc.net.pk Backup email is khawar.nehal@gmail.com.
Without any proof of asking, do not expect anyone to come and find you and somehow explain what you are supposed to do to pass an industry related project. From inside the university or outside. If you are doing an industry related project, then there are multiple evaluators and stakeholders involved and thinking that you can sit quietly and somehow the project shall be done or you shall have some excuse for being quiet is a sure way of failing the industrial project and the final year project course.
It is your job to ask, do and submit everything in formats required by all stakeholders.
If you are not sure who needs what submitted and in what quantity and format, then it is your job as the student to find out. DO NOT WAIT. ACT NOW and keep at it until you have a paper from every stakeholder stating that you have passed the final year project successfully.

This web page shall be used to provide updated documents. In case they are not accessible from other sites.
Use this to keep yourself updated of what is going on.
And more importantly ask via whatsapp or call if there is no communication within 24 hours.
It is the responsibility of the student participant to do something DAILY and SUBMIT daily.
not doing can result in a simple failed grade.
Lack of any communication does not provide an excuse for waiting. And shall not be accepted for industrial projects.
The last resort communication method is to inform the University that you are having difficulty communicating within 24 hours so they know what you are waiting for. If that is the case.
The university shall select one person as a point of contact for informing that all of your communication systems are somehow not available to the student.
In such a drastic case, the university and the external coordinating companies shall come up with a solution to solve the communication issue.

The google group for tracking
This is to make sure that the work was done on the day it is submitted.
Till the last date do we've to combine all gathered Material in a report format?
Answer : Not required for industrial projects grading and evaluation purposes.
Indus university might expect a single submission for administrative and other purposes. So you can ask them of their expectations so you can plan for it during your work on projects.
Correct me if I'm wrong, All we're supposed to do is to do research and report you in daily basis , which means to reflect our concern towards project?
Answer : Two hours per day. 10 minimum serious hours of work per week. 10 weeks.
All links are not open
Answer :
From the outside (Internet) you need to modify the URL to have the port number also.
http://web.atrc.net.pk:8080/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=indus_university:final_projects
From the internal areas, the link works without the port number.

If you are having trouble in opening any link, then tell me and we can either find a solution to how to access it, or provide a copy via email or whatsapp or provide a copy on another website.
Assalam u sir, Sir do we have to directly post the timing report in group, or do we have to make a separate doc each day for every report and then attach that file?
Answer : if it is text then cut and paste is ok. important thing is to make sure you do it the same day to record that this work was done on that day.

Timing Report and Queries:
Q 1: how the project will end?
Ans: To end the project divide your topic or split your project in to different tasks and perform every task day by day so it can be easy for you to end the project rather than so get confused. If you have questions, then do not wait. Ask Mr. Khawar directly.
Q 2: what is the minimum time limit for submission on google group?
Ans: There is no minimum time limit for submission on google group. I think some people that a minimum of two hours are needed to be submitted so they stretch their time to fit two hours even if the task takes less.
Q 3: what is the maximum time limit for submission on google group?
Ans: The maximum time limit for submission on google group is depend upon you because there is no maximum and minimum time limit for submission. If you do 16 hours of work in a day then you can submit it. Or you can submit multiple entries in a day if you have breaks. Or you can mention the breaks in the single submission.
Q 4: how you get two hours of block?
Ans: There is no two hours of block if you done your task or submission with in 5 minute you can also upload to the google group do not wait for the two hours.
Q 5: how many submissions/entries can be submitted on google group in a one day?
Ans: Is depend upon you as I already told you that there is no limit if you worked for 24 hours per day you are allow to submit it. It is better to make one entry per day so they do not get cluttered. Mention your breaks inside the submission. For example work from 9:00 – 9:15 then break. Then work from 13:50 to 13:55 then break then work from 16:24 to 19:12 (with detailed entries every 5 minutes )
Q 6: Why do I have to make a 10-week plan?
Ans: It will help you to finish your project and if you have a plan before doing any thing it will give you so much help to complete that work. And If you do not know your plan then you shall be working and doing tasks without a plan. The idea is to make a plan and then see if it can be made better. Working without a plan is not as efficient for getting something useful done. Without a plan, there shall be more confusion and more waiting to understand what to do next and higher chances of generating excuses for waiting and wasting time. The idea is to finish the final project in 10 weeks so that other students can focus on other courses after the first 10 weeks. Usually in universities, most are not good at managing time and end up doing projects and final exams together. This is not a good way to work.
