What is the difference between a CV and a Resume.
The following are the basic differences.
A resume is one to two pages in length and a CV can be longer.
The terms resume is more common in north America and CV is more common
in South Asia and Europe.
In terms of experience. A fresh person needs a bio data, a person with
up to 3 years of experience needs a resume and a person with a masters
degree and more than 3 years of experience needs a CV.
A CV is more common in academia and a resume is more common in
commercial environments.
A CV has more detail than a resume.
The resume is more like an advertisement than a CV.
Both include your name, contact information,
education, skills and experience.
The CV
additionally contains research and teaching experience, publications,
grants and
fellowships, professional associations and licenses, awards and other
information relevant to the position you are applying for.
References of important people worked with are more common in CVs.
Important design criteria for resumes
It should be short on words but long on facts.
It should convey a sense of energy and purpose, reflecting your
