When people and animals breathe, they exhale an invisible mixture of carbon dioxide (CO2) and Octenol (a type of alcohol) along with a trace of moisture.
Female mosquitoes must find blood in order to reproduce, so mosquitoes come equipped with finely tuned sensors to help them locate the blood they need. Using these sensors, a mosquito can very easily detect carbon dioxide, body warmth, chemicals and sometimes even sweat. Within 30 feet, mosquitoes can actually see their victims. PLACEMENT & OPERATION Placement of your Mosquito ZERO™ is very important. Place Mosquito ZERO™ on a flat surface approximately 2 to 3 feet (0.75 to 1 meter) above floor or ground level. Alternatively, use the suspension chain provided to hang it approximately 3-4 feet (1 to 1.5 meters) above floor or ground level. Place Mosquito ZERO™ in a shaded and dim area, protected from strong wind. Place Mosquito ZERO™ as far away from people and as close to the mosquito source as possible. DO NOT place Mosquito ZERO™ near a bright light source or under direct sunlight. Mosquitoes do not like sunlight and therefore there will not be many mosquitoes being attracted.
